DARK30
JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS USED THOSE CUTE LITTLE PIE MAKERS ON HANDLES FOR COOKING IN FIRES? I MADE SOME APPLE PIES (TWO SLICES OF BREAD,PIE FILLING, AND BROWN SUGAR) VERY GOOD! ANYBODY HAVE ANY OTHER RECIPES THAT THEY LIKED?
Jim W
Dark 30,I have used those pie-makers for hot sandwiches for lunch and breakfast. Little bread, slice of ham, cheddar and swiss, mmmmmmmmm! Or try frying up some scrambled eggs put them in with some cheddar then cook like the pies, you'll love them!!!!The key is to use enough butter so they don't stick!!!! Man I'm getting hungry!!! Borch
Over the years we have done many variations. For breakfast mix up some eggs, add cheese, ham.... The eggs will cook in the fire. Also any pie filling, Kids also like stew in them. Open a can and put into a couple spoonfuls. Left over cooked meat(Chicken, beef, pork, whatever)with some barbaque sauce or gravey and mashed potatoes. Another favorite for campfires is Hobo dinner.Take large piece of tin foil. Put some hamburger in the middle. add potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, corn, onion, season salt, garlic salt, salt, pepper, ketchup, and slice of cheese. We have an adult crumble the raw hamburger onto the tin foil and the kids and adults add what they want. Seal up the tin foil into a package. throw it on the coals and flip it a few times. Cooking times will very based on the fire and the size of the package. Usually if steam is shooting out it's done. Everyone has there own hotdish creation. My kids love it when we make them.
