2nd Transducer on Trolling motor question

LwnmwnMan2

Question

When you mount the transducer on the trolling motor (MinnKota), how do you guys run the wire??

You can't really clamp / clip it to the shaft of the trolling motor, since it needs to slide up and down the "cradle" when you pull the motor out or put it in.

Right now I've got it loosly clipped to the handle that locks it into postion when you're not using it, when it's up all the way.

Any other ideas / suggestions??

Thanks.

Starting from the transducer and working your way up to the unit ......

1. Clamp the transducer to the lower unit.

2. Cable tie the cable where the shaft and the lower unit come together, some models have a small hole there you can run the cable tie through.

3. Run the cable through the handle you use to deploy the motor.

4. Cable tie the cable at the top of the shaft where it meets the head for the motor. Leave an inch or two of slack in the cable - loose enouhg that the motor can rotate when deployed, not so loose that the cable will get in the prop.

5. Run the cable through the coiled cord on the trolling motor.

6. Connect to your sonar.

My cable actually goes thru the grab handle up to the coiled power cable and then it goes back down thru the middle of the coils of the power cable. The transducer cable does kinda just flop around a little bit but there is a enough slack incase you spin the motor in a couple of circles. Oh and there is alot of electrical tape holding the cable tight to the motor head.
