Fishing or Hunting tattoo?

Hey guys and gals:

I am an outdoor writer from south Louisiana and I'm currently writing an article about fishing and hunting related tattoos. I am compiling stories/photos of tattoos from sportsmen all across the country. I have what I think is a pretty cool one myself and have received info on many others.

If you, or any one you know has a fishing or hunting related tattoo, I'd love to talk to them for possible inclusion in the article.

Please contact me by e-mail at: [email protected]

Thanks, Chris.

Hey would u mind putting a few examples of your art??? I have been thinking of getting a wildlife related tattoo for some time now but have not seen any real good ones yet. I do like the ones of the Eurpean deer mounts, they look pretty cool. I would like to see one of a pheasant flying to, that would be cool, so if anyone else have good examples it would be cool to see some.

This is so funny, lol.

This post got me looking around for a catfish tatoo and stumbled upon a forum with the same guy asking the same question and a reply with one of the coolest tattoos ever:

and the bait:

of course, with my biceps, I would end up with a bullhead and a guppy tongue.gif

When I was in college a friend got the Browning logo tattood on his arm. Looked pretty nice but it was like he was a walking billboard.

When you get this published could you possibly post it. It sounds like a pretty cool subject.

Here's mine. I got it as a memorial for my father as my fondest memories were of hunting and fishing with him. The picture would post very large, but if you click on the thumbnail you can see a mid-sized version.

Tats are very addicting, I've got 7, but 2 of them are cover-ups. I have a good friend that owns a shop in St. Paul. The way I see it it's going to be there for the rest of your life make it a good one. Mine are of my 2 kids names one on each shoulder, a Celtic knot (cover-up), a very large dragon (cover-up) and my favorite and newest one is for my mom that passed away 10 years ago from cancer. I own all of them. Meaning they are my design and you'll never see them on any one else.

I don't know him personally, but he's the one that did the tattoo a couple of months ago that I posted here. He did an awesome job, I'll definitely be going back to him for the next one as well. Let him know his work is being posted smile.gif.

Hi Chris

I've thought long and hard about what image I would get when (if wink.gif) I finally decide to get inked. I came to the conclusion that if I wer to get tattooed, it should be practical. Therefore, I'm planning for full body camouflage. By the time I'm finished with it, you won't be able to see me in my coffin!

WOW That is way cool! My dad passed away last August and I never thought of something like that. Mine would have to be a Wood Duck though. I am seriously thinking of getting that done for the exact reasons that you mention! Take care and N Joy the Hunt

My #3 son got a large outline of the Browning white-tail buck emblem on his shoulder. His mother believed him that it was a temperary one(he can convince her of anything) but after a month, she realized it was permanent.

What do you plan on getting next?

I haven't decided yet(where or what), but I do know it will be something with my kids in it. They are addicting, the one Randall did was my third (first with him). It's my wife's turn to get her next tattoo so it will probably be a little while before my next one, I have to save up the cash too grin.gif.

    • Yeah it was a beatdown
    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
