Sales Tax

Just a quick question....is there sales tax when buying a used boat from a dealer? Is it tax on the boat and trailer, just the boat, or just the trailer?

They will tax you on the purchase price of the package and the trailer should be itemized in the sale for the state "motor vehicle" tax. I don't believe it will be double taxed, but this is MN.

Private sales the only tax is on the trailer as it's Dept. of Motor Vehicle, (boat is DNR).
