Question

OK my boat is rated for a 85 horse. would a 90 horse really goof things up? as some guy told me that 5 horse difference is not that big of a deal. The reason I am asking is there are a lot of used 90 horse motors out there compared to 80 and 85 horse motors.

thanks

From a safety standpoint if the weight is comparable, it's probably not a really big deal.

BUT, you're likely to have a hard time insuring it, as many insurers underwriting policies prohibit agents from binding coverage on boats that are powered in excess of their rating.

did not even think about that possibility. Hopefully I can get something decent fof it. Just that the 19 foot is noce for 3 kids the wife and I in the boat. enough room. And have not really seen to many fish/ski combos out ther eforsale that I can afford. I was also told they do not really make many 80 or 85 horse motors that much anymore that are under 2000.00 if that even, is it safe to say that if I get a newer motor sill it be better then the old ones? and I also have a gas/oil mixed tank. how will that effect things?
