New Flathead Record

Recommended Posts

Did anyone see pics of the new SD flathead record? 63 lbs caught by a Tabor man on the Jim River. It was out of the water for an hour and when the GFP showed up they put it in a big holding tank overnight because there was no place to weigh it. THey took it to a grain elevator the next morning. From last I heard it was still alive at a big aquarium at the hatchery. I am comming back to SO Dak this weekend to chase flatheads on the Jim, but we will be fishing up by Milltown. Have a good one.

A Tabor man broke the South Dakota state record for flathead catfish, the state Game, Fish and Parks Department announced this morning.

Davin Holland was using the largest piece of cutbait he had when he caught the new state record on Sunday in the James River.

The fish was 63.5 pounds was 47 inches long and had a girth of 30 inches.

Holland’s fish eclipsed Roger Adams' three year old record fish by 3 pounds

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!" Or is it the "Holder". You've got to love a predator with a head and mouth bigger than its belly.

I believe it was Winston Churchill that said, " whats the matter, eyes to big for your belly?" wink.gif
