minnkota with universal sonar

I recently purchased a minnkota power drive trolling motor with the universal sonar option. The question comes up when I plug the sonar unit in and try to use it. Everything works fine, but there is a noticeable "clicking" noise that comes from the trolling motor's top. It only occurs when I use the locator with the motor. If I just use the trolling motor alone, nothing out of the ordinary happens. Has anyone elso experienced this problem or is it normal?

Yes I have had the same thing. Does not always make the noise, just at times. Have not had any problems with it, but makes you wonder if you can hear it, how loud is it to the fish?

Well al transducers make a "clicking" noise. Some are lounder or are at different intervals.

Now if it was coming from the top of the trolling motor then Id also would be kind of confused.
I have a 24v universal minn kota w/co-pilot. I have a Fl-18 hooked up to it now. I havent heard a ticking noise from the top of motor ever.

Yes, I also hear a clicking noise, but it seems intermittent. The guy who installed my trolling motor said that it is common.

Another question, anyone else have issues on a universal sonar motor with interference on their graph/flasher? I have a X-125 and I can't even use it since the interference is so bad. Tried Minn Kota and they sent a grounding wire but it made no difference. They also sent an article on interference issues, but it doesn't appear that it will be easily resolved.

Anybody else have this problem and were you able to resolve it?

I switch out my X-15, Lms3320 and x97 on the front and have had no problems at all with interferance from my universal sonar or trolling motor.
