There have been several discussions of this subject. Concensus seems to be that they are very worthwhile additions to your Minnkota. I have been using one for a couple of weeks and think its the greatest thing since backward hats!

I am sold big time. I wish I could get the thing to quit beeping when I change speeds though. When it beeps both my dogs think its the beep from the invisible fence and start shaking. There is no way for them to get away from it...Other than that it rules.

I have never used an auto-pilot myself but I am not sold. Three of my fishing buddies have auto-pilots and none of them find much use for it. Their comment is, "How often do you find yourself working a straight weedline or contour? The only time they felt the pilot came in handy is when you're busy baiting a hook or otherwise occupied, in which case you're probably not fishing.

I may be not reading the previous post right but...he was asking about Co Pilot not Auto Pilot. I have been using the auto/co pilot for drift control when the wind is too much and I am live bait rigging. Or when I am using the big motor pulling lindys and every now and then I need to slow it down more. Drop the trolling motor in and put it on 2 or 3 to slow it down. Auto Pilot is not on in this case but its nice to have the wrist remote to switch things around.

The way to turn off the beeping is to hold down the power up and power down button at the same time.

There are 3 different modes. 1 beeps any time you push a button, another beeps every 2 seconds, and the other makes no noise at all.

When you hold down the buttons you will here either 1 beep (maybe after a couple of seconds) or 2 beeps or 3 beeps. Keep holding them down and releasing after the beeps until you are in the mode you want.

Good Luck.
