jed

Question

i have the 05 premium chip in my lowrance lms480 and my chart is "off" in the same direction and distance on every lake. for example, on rainy it will show me on top of windmill rock when i am actually nw of it. it is the same distance and direction all the time. is there some way to calibrate the unit, if so, i can't find it in my manual. any help would be appreciated. thanks. jed

I would check with either lowrance or navionics to see what they had to say. They might have had the same problems on other chips or units. No clue what to do otherwise, something is definitely not right though.

I upgraded the software on my LMS 337 and my lakemaster chip is off also. I am figuring about 10'. Before the upgrade I was on the dot. I was going to e-mail lowrance and see what they have to say. I am not sure if there is a way to downgrade the software or not, but it it is not easy to troll a contour when your GPS is off that far.

called today and the gal said, "oh no problem, thats easy", this is my 4th call in and now someone says that. she said to make sure my datum was set to wgs.84, and my clock reset to gmt (greenwich mean time). she said it happens all the time. the computer thinks your somewhere else if those two things are off. i'll try it in the morning and see if it corrects the problem.
