Donnelly on Minnitaki

Has anyone ever stayed here or have experience fishing these lakes?? (Pelican, Abram, etc...) thinking about going up in August and was wondering what the out look is on Walleye, pike, and bass and also is there musky fishing available?

I have never stayed at Donnelly's but have fished the lakes several times. We have never hunted Muskies but those who have went into Lac Suel for that. We have had good success on Minnitaki for walleye, smallmouth and northerns up to 38". If you would like some walleye spots I can help you out but all my fishing has been early in June so I don't know how effective they would be in August.

How good is the Walleye Fishing?? Compareable action to lac Seul?? I would like to keep my dad busy on walleyes so i can chase some of my precious Muskies

I don't know if I would use comparable but I have been going to Ontario once or twice a year for 15 years and would rate the fishing 2nd to Lac Suel. I don't think you will have any trouble keeping your dad busy. Lac Seul is always a long boat ride away if needed.

I stay at Donnellys at the end of august every year. Great place, and great hosts. Walleye fishing is great on minnitaki and we have never had any reason to go to any of the other lakes. Good musky fishing is two minutes away on little vermillion in the provincial park. We caught probably 30 northerns over 36 inches during our week last year in one spot with six over 40 up to 42. Smallie fishing is also excellent at times . We do mostly topwaters for them.Let me know if you want more info and i can help you out more.

donnellys has nice equipment and they are very helpful folks.

Danno - any recommendations on where to smallmouth fish in 'taki? Never had too much success on finding them.
