Down Deep
If you want to take a bit of a trip head north toward Chamberlin Narrows. Scaler Lake has a good population of nice sized Northerns. We also catch lots of 5 to 10 lbs in the Wapice area
CH47
csuram,Not that this info helps, but, we fish around the Vaughan Lake area and every year we get at least one 40+ incher. It's usually me becuase I get bored jigging for walleye all day and spend a lot of time casting. I am by no means an expert but I've had my best luck with an old original, floating, perch patterned Rapala in the 4" size. I will toss it over some weed beds and twitch it, reel it, twitch it, reel it, kind of like a topwater. It's a lot of fun watching such big fish come out of the weeds and nailing it, usually when it's being twitched.Good Luck!Regards,
Lakeside
ditto what the others have said. We always catch a lot of very nice Nortens (36+ is our definition of nice) and there are ususlly a number of 40"+ on the bragging board (but always back in the water) at the end of the week. We fish out of Chamberlin Narrows. Our pike fishing isn't quite as accidental as CH47s. We'll jig in the morning until we get bored, then cast for the big girls the rest of the day and evening. We've seen some monster fish up there.
