Leech Lake

Scoot

Recommended Posts

I'm headin' to Leech this weekend for a little muskie hunting. I've spent virtually no time on the lake and I'd appreciate any tips that anyone can give me. General information to recent reports would be very appreciated.

Yep rod man is correct Scoot, Two points area of Portage is a good bet (miles of weedbeds)and if the "wind is a blowin" hit the rocks of Pelican, or the submarine complex. Spinnerbaits and eagle tails have always treated me well in portage. The pike beds in front of federal dam are also underrated. Beware if the wind starts whipping out of the south also if you are in Portage, she can get ugly in a hurry out there. Pose the question to Jim murphy on his site also he usually will post up to date info for you. I hope to get back up there in august.

Good luck!

Dan

Thanks guys- I appreciate the info. One follow up question- the submarine complex... is that the rocks in between Sucker Bay and Pelican Island? The ones with marker bouys on them? (Sorry, but I don't know dump about that body of water!)

Thanks again.

Fellas- a quick update of how I put your help to use. We fished Leech on Sun. On the water by 6:00. Fished the first spot until nearly 8:00 with no fish spotted. Moved to the second spot and had two in the boat by 9:05. One came on a Vibe Tube (43") and the other came on a Chatter Bait (46.5"). Fished about 13 more hours without seeing another fish! We didn't see a fish on any of the big cabbage beds or rocks. Found them on a small cabbage bed in shallow water.

Thanks again for the info and the help- much appreciated!
