BlackwaterStout
I'm sure a lot of you guys already know about this hook but it was totally new to me a couple of weeks ago. I just started drop shotting this spring and although I had good success I still had problems getting my hook to stay 90 degrees from my line. I always use a palomar knot and have tried all kinds of different was of getting that hook to stand out but inevitably it seemed to always droop down. But a couple of weeks ago I was at Cabelas and noticed a hook called the "Standout hook" which as I mentioned was totally new to me. They had a walleye and a bass version which to me I could tell no appreciable difference. So I picked up a few packs of the red walleye hooks and got a chance to use them on 3 or 4 outings so far. All I can say is that they work perfectly and I haven't had any issues at all with them. I've been using medium sized live fathead minnows for both walleye and sauger. I've also been using berkley power minnow soft plastic in smelt colors. Both have been very successfull. So I don't mean to sound like a commercial but this product really worked for me. Hopefully those of you that have had the same issues as I have will be able to use this info to help them out. slick814
I discovered that hook last fall... all I can say is that you're right. It's awesome!! Used it this spring under a slip bobber and had a blast catching walleyes. USed it for some plastics fishing last week... did pretty good on the bucketmouth end too! I love that hook, and I'll second the recommend it to anyone who drop shots and hasn't tried it yet!

Bruce Mosher
That is a very good hook! I've caught Bass and Walleyes with it. I use the Foam Walker (self standing sinker) under it. The Foam Walker never tips over and also wobbles in the water creating action for the bait - wether it be plastic or live. Have fun, Bruce Mosher
TSCTSC
How is the hook tied on and why does it work so well for you guys?Thanks./
Bruce Mosher
You tie on a Palmor knot then thread the line through the bottom hole of the hook (your hook will stay perfectly upright)- keep extending the line down to your weight.Good luck, Bruce Mosher
LoonASea
I have started to use this hook this open water season ,,,I tied them on with different tag end lengths and spooled them on a pool noodle for storage ,,,I will slide a bullet sinker on first then add some split shot to help make this rig snag proof ...nice thing is you can add weight easily and to add another note I wrap my line twice thru the split shot to avoid inadvertent weight loss I have only used this with plastics so far but I will try it with live bait soon Randoid
