Are there any GPS's that will measure "area" other than Garmin's Legend? I need it to measure acres. I want to walk around a field and have it calculate the total acres. I know the Legend does this, but want to consider all options prior to buying one.

I think most of the newer Garmins will do it. I have used a Garmin GPS 72 and I own a GPS Map 76 and both of those do it.

How accurate do you want to be on measuring the field? If you are just measuring the field for kicks and giggles (more or less) the Garmins will work fine. If you are going to use it for some sort of official measurement the Garmins might not cut the mustard.

So what is better for ice fishing then if they all measure acres, the legend, 72, or 76? Then i would rather get the best and easiest unit out there.
