1997 30hp johnson leaking gas

mrjigger

Question

I have a '97 30hp johnson that is leaking gas. I think I have found the culprit, however, not sure how to fix it. There is a small tube that comes off the engine block just behind the carb. Gas is just slowly spitting out of the tube and eventually leaks through the engine body. The tube looks as if it has been broken off from someplace since the end is all jagged, not a smooth cut. I can't seem to find anyplace that this tube should connect to. Any ideas? Thanks

Probably a line that drains excess gas from the crank and returns it to the fuel system. On your engine I'm not exactly sure where but I'd guess to the fuel pump.

That fitting on the case is probably tiny like around 1/8th" and the other end of the hose is 1/4".
