upnorth
I know that to a point this has been discussed in the past, but what are the pros and cons of running non-oxygenated premimum vs unleaded? Is there any performance gain or am I just going to waste my $$?
0 countryboy9799
You need to look in your owners manual to find that out. Contrary to popular myth premium fuel does not make more HP, it's things like high compression piston's, advancing the timing and ect. that give you more performance. I think a lot newer cars have knock sensors to tell if the motor is pinging and will set the timing back if it is. Do a google on buying premium fuel and you will find a lot on this topic. 0 upnorth
That is what I have heard, but I also hear a lot of people saying that the higer octane performs better. Just looking to see if anyone has/had experience with both and one performing better than the other.
0 castmaster
putting it into a newer vehicle i wouldnt worry about it. if your using it in a small engine i would definitely use the non oxygenated stuff. i maistakenly let a buddy fill up my atv for me, and of course being a tight wad went with the cheap stuff and it was pinging to beat h**l afterwards.
