brittman
Turkey spurs are somewhat of an indication of age, but some areas of the country, state, and zone will have longer spurs (genetics) than others. Jakes have a distinct tail (longer tail feathers in the middle) and nubby little spurs, a 2 year old Tom will have a 6" to 8" beard (usually) and spurs about 3/4", 3 year old Tom and older will have longer beards and longer spurs. But heavy snow and/or beard rot can make an older gobblers beards short
