Lowrance X67C Ice Machine to Portable

Hawks

Question

Wondering if anyone has had to convert their X67C Ice Machine to a portable unit. I ordered my portable transducer from LEI Extras and it looks like I will have to do some wire cutting on the transducer cable to connect to my 12 volt battery power source. As it is, the new transducer comes with a plug for a power source...problem is my ice machine runs off of a 12 volt battery with no plug...just actual wires from the winter ducer that connect to the battery posts. Does this sound right guys? Should I cut the plug off and connect the little clasps that connect to the battery posts? Let me know if you have any secrets on this. Thanks for your help! -Hawks confused.gif

I haven't done this myself but it should be a solution.

Get extra +/- power wire add male ends to it as i'm assuming the wiring is currently female where the battery is male. That way you have an easy connection. get an inline fuse for the positive side and then a clamp on the opposite side wires for connection to the marine battery. Should only cost a few $'s and then you wouldn't have to cut anything.

Ralph, did the skimmer you ordered come with the suction cup? I am trying to go portable (Canada trips, etc.) so the portable ducer I ordered has a suction cup. Is this what you ordered as well?

I actually got the skimmer free with the Ice Machine, so it did not have the suction cup, but I did pick up a suction cup mount to go with the transducer. Portability was the key for me, too. I'll check into it further this afternoon.

Ralph, I bet you got the Summer freebee from Thorne Brothers. Anyway, what I do is just used the small 12V gel battery and the Ice Machine "case". Just plug in the ducer and power to the gel battery. The charge lasts so long anyway that I don't find it neccessay to hard wire it to the marine battery.
