Broken Shimano Rod Tip

caster

Question

Has anyone returned a Shimano rod for replacement due to damage? I just broke the tip on my Compre rod and I need some advice on getting it replaced or repaired. It is less than a year old but the damage was caused by me, not from a defect. Thank you.

A friend just returned two Shimano's to Gander Mountain. He had his receipt, two new rods, no questions asked. The tips were broke on both rods, and it was his fault.

A recipt makes it a lot easier.. however, you should be able to bring it into any Shimano dealer. Gander, Cabelas, ect.... and they should exchange it, the only problem you may run into is if they do not have your model Compre in stock.

Perhaps I caught someone on a bad day, but I brought in my broken Shimano Rod w/receipt at GMntn in Minnetonka, (less than a year old) and was advised that I needed to call Shimano directly.

Marine General in Duluth has been real good about this for me. But for some reason I break Shimano rods like crazy, maybe on a year. None of my other rods has this propensity to break. But they are good rods otherwise.

According to Cabelas,Shimano is the only company left with

an over the counter rod warrantee. With Loomis or St.Croix you have to send the rods in.Thought that was kind of interesting info when I purchased my last rod.

Hill- You should not have had that problem. I would have asked to talk to a manager!.. .Shimano has an over the counter exchange warrenty!

However, you are the 3rd person I have heard complain about that exact store on this issue.

Thanks for the info. I'll let you know the outcome.

Deitz, do you have to go back to the place you bought the rod from or can I go to any Shimano dealer. The place I bought it from is across town and I live near a Gander Mountain. (I do have a receipt)

Thanks again.
