bass fishin stuff:

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, wanna share some info? I'll volunteer mine, sat and sun of opening weekend, water was warmer than this last weekend. Caught fish in shallow weeds opener weekend with spinnerbaits. This last Saturday the water was down in the 54-55 degree range. there were a lot more beds but no fish on them, no fry

to me there seems to be some spawn activity before it got cold late last week, so I would say the fish have backed off for a while and the majority of the bass spawn is yet to occur.

Last weeks fishing seemed to indicate this, I caught a few shallow but caught a lot more backing off the flats to 12-14 ft and dead sticking a worm. Even at this depth the fish were mostly males. where are dem big girls?

Anybody else have any bass spawn info or patterns goin?

i was north by webster and two of the lakes i was on i saw some males by beds, but they where way to spooky like they where waiting to spawn. both lakes a caught a 4+ler female staging to come in they where full of spawn. i would guess that they must have made the beds last weekend and are waiting for the females to come in with better water temp

on two different parts of the lake one a shallow bay or little isolated lake was mostly 2-3 feet deep with pad stems with a little 18 foot hole. the fish were around the the hole and only caught and saw only one in the shallows , in another bay there was a little deeper water through out and that was where the males where around their beds they had made, but where really spooky. they where just waiting for business to happen. it you got close to them they go swimming a ways off. not really guarding or locked. water temp gauge was not working

I'll be near Danbury this next Fri-Sun. I expect to see some spawning fish if the weather forecast holds.

Mr froggie and mrs chatterait will go awalkin this weekend. these two baits are fun to throw!

This little 1/4 in chatterbait will go around in circles sometimes.

So whatta you throwin?

I saw the same sorts of stuff this past weekend on Deer & Wapogasset. Empty beds, I tend to think they started to spawn and then got pushed back by the weather. Oddly enough, I saw one 3lb bass locked on a bed on Wapo in 54 degree water. I guess there is always the exception

Hi Hella Bass,

Fished three days last weekend with bite about the same. Lots of fish but no big fish.

Water temp were 60-64 degrees. The number of beds had increased a 1000times compared to two weeks ago but still no fish on beds. No fry around so I assume there is still no spawn.

Spawn is probably full swing now with these hot days. If anybody gets out during the week let me know what you see.

Thanks.

I made it out yesterday to do some bass fishing. Could'nt find a fishing partner so i just did a half day. Fished a small 300 acre lake. Lots of bass cruising the shallows. Mostly in the 10" to 16" range. Tons of beds but only seen one big girl near a bed. Caught bass on everything I threw.

I always thought that the 14" size limit for bass would help. But now after several years with this in place I really think it has stunted the bass in some lakes. Curious to what others think.

14" slot and stunted bass? There sure are a lot of 11-13 1/2 in fish. So what happened to the big fish? Bobber fisherpeople took them home?

Maybe the 14-15 inchers get taken home for dinner and few fish are getting real large with this slot.

Maybe the slot should be 14 in and under. When they put the narrow slots on Mille Lacs 10 years ago it wasn't long before there were lots of big walleyes to catch and release. Maybe it would work for bass.

Maybe a lower bag limit. Let the panfisherman keep 2 at a time instead of 5 or 6. More 14 inchers should servive then.

Gotta go with what we got. MN bass opens finally, thank God WI opens early or I'd be crazy by now.

Hey bassers,

Fished Mem day weekend and did awesome on Friday. Still big fish on beds, hit two lakes and ended up with about a dozen smallies in the 19 1/2" to 21" range. Only got a few smaller than that. Went out Sat and Sun, nothing over 18", with most fish being in the 14-16" range. As of Monday, lots of empty beds. Buddy said last Monday there were lots of biggies on the beds. The smallies are pretty much done now. I think the obscene heat over the weekend really pushed things. Surface water temp went up over 5deg from Fri to Mon.

And why you guys keeping those bass? frown.gifThey don't get to be pigs when they end up in the frying pan.

Similar report from Eau Claire, the largemouth are on beds. Biggest we've caught thus far is 19.5", lots in the 15-18" range. Gonna go out again tonight and probably tomorrow - carp are cruisin the shorelines as well, will have to take the bow along tomorrow. Later.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
