Lowrance X-15 depth problem

onemagnum

Question

My X-15 has a mind of it's own, if you are running at a certain depth it will all of a sudden change to some out of wack depth like 200', 500' or what ever it decides it wants to. Lowrance said to do a master reset but that didn't really seem to work. I have gone in a reset the depth range or leave on auto depth but that don't always work either.

Whats up. Thanks for any info

How old is it? I believe there were some bad transducers that came with some of the older ones and a change to a new one fixed the problem. Does it happen while moving at a fast speed or just while sitting still?

I had an X-65 on the bow and it did the exact same thing (happened on the opener of all times). At the time I had an X-85 on the dash so I swapped the units to make sure it wasn't the graph but the same thing happened with the '85 so I knew it was the transducer. New transducer fixed the problem.

It's definitly a transducer related issue. Either it is mounted in a position where the signal is poor, the settings are off (but should work correctly on auto), or you got a defective transducer. The fastest way to tell is to try another transducer and see if that fixes you problem. Your unit may be under warranty and also check the latest software version against the newest release on lowrances HSOforum.

I agree with the other posts, but one more thing to consider....Do you have another locator running at the same time. I have a 15 on the bow and an X-16 on the dash. When I get into about 22-24 fow (the signals interfere) the depth on the dash unit goes screwy. In shallower water, works just great.
