Motor Problem!!!!

bassman186

Question

On my 1995 Basstracker I have a 60hp. mercury motor. There is a problem with the trim. It wont go up, you hit the trim up button but and it makes the noise to go up but it doesnt move. It goes down full power, it acts like it wants to suck it down. It seems like there's something not pushing the oil in the cylinders or something nots catching it inside there to pull it up.

Thanks for any help;

~Matt

Matt:

Check the back of the button with a voltage tester to see if your connections are working properly.

If you have not used it in awhile the seal in-side the cylinder may have worn out letting oil to flow by it not allowing it to raise, the weight of the motor will allow it to drop most likely.

Another suggestion, would be to reverse the connections behind the button to see if one side is failing, it could be you have a bad selinoid.

Second, check the fluid level to see if there is enough hydraulic oil to create the power needed for lift.

Hope this helps you out, before you need to take it in and spend some bucks.

Sounds like your trim motor runs, since you mentioned it makes noise.

As suggested check the oil level, tilt motor up as far as it goes and add if needed. If there's red oil inside it's Dextron II/III tranny fluid.

Castindad,

I think you will probably get a lot better response if you post a separate thread with your question and then there you can go into detail about exactly what you would like to do.

Besides getting better information for your situation, it also helps those people who are following a particular thread.

That's exactly right, hijacking threads doesn't help much.

Post a new thread with your question and we'll helpya..

PS You have to explain better....
