Electronics recycling

I have two PC's (hard drives removed) and a stereo reciever that are junk and need to get rid of them Does anybody know of a place in the NE metro that recycles this sort of stuff? The landfill won't take them and the wife is getting tired of looking at them.

Your county/city hazardous waste disposal site should be able to take it. Or you can try your garbage hauler. I know that some of the metro area Waste Management landfill sites take computers (for a fee).

The one I have charges $10, both the hazardous waste site and garbage collector. Just looking for a freebie I guess.

You could see if there are any schools in the area that have an electronics/computer class where they repair PC's or tear them down to see how they work and donate to them.

Some computer manufacturers offer free recycling of their equipment. Check their HSOforum for info.

Hard to find "free" disposal anymore and unless the equipment is fairly new schools and prisons won't take them anymore (too expensive to use old stuff)

Weird, Rice County landfill doesn't charge anything for monitors and computers, just like regular garbage, it goes by the pound with $ 17.55 min charge up to 600lbs.
