mnwild
What do you guys think so far has been the best & worst offseason free agent signing's.Best so far I think is the Sox with Jim Thome, this guy is an animal, .342 7HR's 12RBI's. Followed by Josh Beckett who is 3-0 with a 1.29ERA. Worst so far in the entire league has to be Rondell White batting a whole .085 (4-47) and they brought this guy in for his bat... Well I throw Jacque Jones in the mix also even thou I don't think he has played every game, he's batting .
Commanche Jim
Actually, Thome was acquired in a trade for Aaron Rowand. To this point, it was the best TRADE made in the off season.
mnwild
Your right about Thome should of known that, I should of put best offseason moves via trade or signing for the subject.
Jarrod32
We're only a dozen games into the season...a bit early to be claiming 'best' and 'worst' free agent signings. Here's an early nominee for 'best', though...how about Frank Thomas? He already has 3 HR I think...if he stays healthy, he could be a steal for the A's.
friendlyfisher
Thats funny cause in my opinion Thomas will be one of the worst. he is always hurt, even in the DH spot. Plus he is only batting .171 so far. Sounds like the same overweight, old and rusty player the sox have been waiting to get rid of.

I tatally agree with this quote!! Quote: Here's an early nominee for 'best', though...how about Frank Thomas? He already has 3 HR I think...if he stays healthy, he could be a steal for the A's. I totally disagree with this one however. Ask this question again at the All Star break. I liked the Thome pick up before the season started, we'll see. Willy
Yep too early to tell for most of them. However, if we're looking at right now, how about Tony Batista. OBP-366 SLG-.568 AVE-.297, for an OPS of .934. All for what 1.5 million?
buckpredator
Right now I think the Twins best pick up has been Castillo. The way he plays in the field, watching him and Castro turn two is poetry in motion. Actually, he and Castro have been very good offensively as well
870Express
I don't think anything can compare to the 1997 Draft, taking Michael Cuddyer as the 9th over-all pick.
Kayakr
One of the worst definitely has to be Jacque Jones. I have no idea how Minnesota fans put up with him all those years. He strikes out 30% of his at bats and thinks it is okay bc he hits an occassional home run. If you look at his numbers, they have steadily declined over the past 3 years. Definitely not someone I would have targeted, being a big Cubs fan, and I certainly would NOT have signed him for 3 years (what long years they will be). He is batting under .200 and is going to struggle to bat .250 over a full season and then he complains that he gets booed. Was he ever a feared hitter ?
