Ray Esboldt
Here are the current drafts of what are basically the final two versions of Dedicated Funding:THE HOUSE PLANThe House would dedicate three-sixteenths of 1 percent of existing sales tax revenue to the outdoors and cultural programs. The House would allocate the $135 million per year this way:60% to fish, wildlife and habitat.30% to clean up polluted water.5% to parks, trails and zoos.5% to arts, humanities and public broadcasting.THE SENATE PLANThe bill passed by the Senate would ask voters if they want a sales tax increase of three-eighths of 1 percent dedicated to funding the outdoors and the arts. If voters approve, an additional $276.9 million in sales taxes would be collected each year. Of that: 34% would go to improve fish and wildlife habitat. 22% would go to clean up polluted water. 22% would go to parks, trails and zoos.22% would go to arts, humanities and public television. Swimmer
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are'nt the projects this money will fund supposed to come from some sort of Citizens Commitee (like MO). The government of the moment would'nt be able to knee-jerk politicaly control this commitee!?
Giant_Jackpot
Swimmer is correct. The intent is to have a citizens committee that will oversee the funding.
