2002 Lund Explorer 1675 GAS ODER?

I have a 2002 Lund Explorer 1675 with a 90Hs Mercury 4 Stroke and the problem I'm experiencing is a smell of gas when I open up the storage compartments. I've tore open the center floor over the gas tank and have not seen any gas leakage at all. But I continue to smell the gas oder in the compartments when I open them. I cannot leave anything in the compartment overnite as it smells like gas the next day. I have heard through the grapevine that other people have heard of people experiencing the same odor problem. Any input would be helpful as my dealer has not found anything, but the smell is there.

Don't know, but I had a thought. The tank has to be vented for expansion etc.- is it vented out of the compartment or in it?

I have a 2002 Pro Angler and have the same problem.

I have had the boat in twice to the dealer to have the outside fuel vents worked on. They cleaned them out but that still has not fixed the problem. I get a drip of gas down the outside of the boat after transporting it.

You may also want to pull up the floor and check your tank brackets. I know for a fact that they often break which may cause your tank to shift enough so that your tank won't vent properly and leak vapors into your boat. I've heard of more than 3 dozen instances of this in the past year.

I know you said you checked the tak for leaks. But that's the worst case scenerio. Usually it creates a venting issue.

Definitely worth a check.
