Well, got to go fishing again FINALLY on Saturday. Put in at the dam. No water running through the dam (OH OH!!).

Ended up catching 5 walleyes (biggest 18.5") north of Crow Creek in 13-16' of water, getting 4th place in a small tourney. Winning weight caught fish pitching jigs south of Crow. We didn't catch a fish on jigs, but all on bouncers and plain hooks.

Water was dirty with the rain and the wind this past week. Going out again this weekend & I'll report back again!!

(FUNNY STORY) laugh.gif I went to sleep with the pounding of rain at my father in laws house north of SFs. on thurs night. When I got up at 4:30 to hook up the boat I was surprised to find a lake stretching from my dad in laws driveway to his boathouse across the street. We had to wait until 10:30 till the water got low enough for us to get to his boathouse.

We headed for Chamberlain to meet my buddy and his dad from Minneapolis. We decided to put in at the dam since the wind was gusting up to 50. We did a quick boat check and we were in the water. We got around the rock piles outside the marina and I opened it up, she wouldn't plane out so I hit the bilge, she pumped all the way to the stillin basin. I asked the father in law if he had checked the plug he said yes, I said check it again, he said I think its in. The bilge was still pumping so I decided to look for myself and low and behold I could see daylight down there. I reached down in there clothes and all and put the plug back in, YES game on!! We went up the stillin basin and started are drift. I was using the trolling motor to keep us at certain depths and over pods of fish. OH ^$%^#^ !! the battery on the electric ran out of juice, Boy I am glad you have another one in your boat DAD. Used that one for oh I dont know maybe 5 hole minutes and that one was dead to. Ah dad when was the last time you put knew batts in? Gee I really cant remember the last time. I had basically given up the ghost and lost all humor by this time and decided to head in to Chamberlain to get a Hot Batt. I started the 150 up and took off, got about 300 yards and the low oil alarm went off, I said POPS you told me the oil was 3/4 full, he goes back and checks again, wipes the old dusty oil and dust off and says in his funny voice "oops it just looked 3/4 full its almost empty."

We get back to the launch get the boat loaded and my buddy shows up with his Ranger and says hey did you guys get your limit allready. I almost through him in the water.

We all jumped in his boat at about 4:30pm and decided to jig the fast water at the dam. We had a absolute blast once we figured the patern out. The eyes were all males milking in the 16-19" range and a 1/2 oz jig was the ticket.

Sat: Decided to go up to Crow creek from Cedar Shores. We knew it was a high pressure after a good low and the fish would be deep if they were not running water. We fished in 29-31' on the channel break. The first 3-400yards or so we got bit off about a dozen times and decided to go with a stinger in the dorsal and after that it was game on. We fished them deep for about a hour and then we noticed they were moving up on us. They slowly went up for the next couple hours till we had our limit.

Sun: Decided to show my buddy a few fishing spots down south by the White. Fishing was very slow there since there was no water running. The fish were more scattered down there and we couldnt really find a live bait solution and we didnt have our plug poles with us to cover more area.

We gave it up after a couple of hours and went back to Crow Creek and fished the channel and found them again on the break just stacked up at 24'. We caught fish until the wind completely shut off and then the fish shut off and we decided it was time to head for home.

I hope you all got a chuckle at my expence. Wow when it rains it pours. I am just glad my buddy came along and we got to fish without worrying about any boat probs the rest of the weekend.

Next time only the facts ( I Promise ) wink.gif

Spent Thursday afternoon, Friday, & Saturday (4-13 thru 4-15) at Chamberlain. We had good fishing.

The fish seems to be biting everywhere (north & South that is), but we did have to work for them. Caught them on jigs, spinners, and cranks. Our fishing was better north versus south. Caught our limits Friday & Saturday with two 19 1/2" fish on Saturday being our biggest.

Going back out in a couple of weeks and I'll post then as well!!

Good to hear and nice reports. I got talking with my grandpa over easter and he has been to Ft. Thompson 5 different times this spring for 2 days each and limited every single time. He says its just been incredible.

A couple of buddies of mine were fishing during that tourney the week before last. They were pluggin a area south of the White in 17-21 fow. They could hardly keep 4 lines in the water. The great news is they were catching fish from 6" to 21" regularly so we should have fishing for some time yet. Bad news is they had a fish that went 28", should have been fishing the tourney frown.gif. ( They did photo and release.)

My pops leaving today to fish the Chamberlain area has anyone heard if you can put in at Elm Creek yet?

He likes to fish the Boyer and Kiner areas as long as the White is not running dirty water into the MO.

There was two trailers parked at Elm Creek last weekend according to my buddy. He wasn't sure what kind of shape the landing was in though.

Hey Dean, can you email me? Thanks!

Any recent reports from the area. Thinking about heading that way later this week and was wondering if anybody wants to divulge any of their secret spots grin.gif. No, just looking for some general directions. Thanks in advance.

I just spent 5 days out in Chamberlain. The bite was great both north and south. If you want to catch loads of fish, just bounce around and cast the shale bluffs. 15-17 inch males are still biting well. If you want bigger fish, pull leadcore on the flats or in the channel.

Good luck!

Hey Rost, my brothers and I will be fishing a small tournament out there in awhile. What were you trolling, spinners or cranks? The two colors that I've heard that work are gold or shades of blue. Any help you could give us on tactics and bait would be appreciated.

We mainly troll cranks out there. There was not any one color that really out performed the rest. Out of the top ten of the tourney last week, about 1/2 were livebaiting, and 1/2 were trolling cranks. 1/2 were north, 1/2 were south.

Fished at Chamberlain again this weekend and had a great day on Sunday. Caught at least 50 walleyes with 2 guys (all released cool.gif) with 22 walleyes over 16 inches. Nothing huge (biggest 19 1/2") but boy did we have fun.

I can't tell you where yet (pre-fished with a PWT Pro), but it was a blast!!
