Pontoon Repair

Does anybody know if you can weld(TIG or MIG) steel pontoons or if there is a way to patch up a large hole? Thanks for any and all information

If you know how to weld aluminum it's no problem at all, I had several patched up by a neigbor which is very good alum welder.
