Lowrance LCX-15 problem

NewPanfisher

Question

While out fishing, the depth, temperature, and speed will freeze up for a minute then come back for 20 seconds and back to freezing up all of the time. Why is it doing this? Is it because of the wiring of the fishfinder. The place where we purchased the boat ran the wiring to the fishfinder next to the boat motor wires along the side of the boat. We also installed a 4ft. antenna to the radio which is right next to the fishfinder. Are the wires from other electronics causing this problem or is it something else?

Just curious...I own one along with 2 other people I know. It loses the bottom when motoring. Is this the problem you have? We've all tried different tricks, but it will read the bottom, then start blinking when you speed up, then maybe pick it up again. Since none of us can get it to read at all speeds, we're all stumped.

You may have to adjust your depth on the transducer. When at higher speeds the transducer will ride higher in the water and may lose track of the bottom. Also, if it is placed behind some rivets they will cause some interferance and the unit will sputter as well.

I also have the LCX-15 but only my temperature would come and go. After getting new parts and trying different things I found that the Speedometer for this unit was actually the problem. Why the speedometer cable affects the temperature reading I can't guess but these two cable connect into a "Y" adapter just before it is plugged into the unit. At least it worked for me. I hope this helps.

it is a malfuntion of your locator.....

Get ahold of Lowarance and let them know the problem. They have been standing up and taking care of the problem.

Apparently, they are taking them back, because of a faulty processor or something.........

Anyways, contact Lowrance........

I've checked the connections and there is no corrosion, the boat is stored inside and has never been in the rain. I do not have to fast to have the depth freeze up and start blinking. It's mainly happening when I'm trolling along and the unit will freeze up and blink. Sometimes it quits on it's own, but usually I have to shut the unit off and turn back on to get it working correctly. But it usually does not work correctly very long. I have emailed Lowrance twice on this problem, but I'm yet to get a reply from them. I guess I will have to try calling them.

I'm telling you..........I know of a couple of people who have had the same problem. It is a problem with the unit itself that Lowrance has to fix. It is a manufacturing fault........

If you want it fixed.......call them........

Thanks Big G for the info. I contacted Lowrance and they told me that was my problem, and I needed to download the more current software upgrades. I have taken care of it and I will get out this weekend and see how well it works now with the latest software upgrades.
These Forum's are really handy to get help.
Thanks Again,
