Looking for advise of new GPS / Depth finder???

Minnetonka

Question

I am in the market for a new combination GPS depth finder. I just started looking, but the Lowrance LMS334C has caught my eye. I have about $700 to spend on the unit and want to get the most for my money. Can anyone give me some feed-back on units you like?

Lowrance is the way to go, the 332/334 is a great combo unit. If you're going with the 334 just make sure that where you mount the unit it will have a clear view of the sky, or you won't be happy with the gps function.

Vtiller1900, your x-85 transducer will work on your 332 if it has the grey twist lock connector, but you will not be able to get the water temperature readings unless you use the digital transducer with the blue connector on it. Greg

The X-85 and the LMS 332 are not the same frequency and therefore the transducers are not interchangeable. I recently upgraded from an X-85 to a LMS 480 and had to change out the transducers. The LMS 480 and 332 use the same transducer. I recommend the 332 over the 334. I've heard some complaints about poor gps coverage from the internal receiver (334 )units. The LMS 480 is the monochrome(gray scale) version of the LMS 332. Pretty much the same unit without color. The 480 actually has more power than the 332. 4000 watts vs. 2500. You can't go wrong with either one. Lowrance has really stepped it up a notch from the X-85! Definitely spend the cash on either the lakemaster or navionics chip to truly get the most out of the gps.

A big thank you to bnbrk94! I just called up reeds and asked them if i could go with the boat show deal on the 332c. I got the boat show price, free $100 lakemaster chip and free shipping. I was looking at the lowrance x-26 but I couldn't justify spending the extra cash. By the way the deal mentioned is way below cost.
