I have a 2001 Tahoe and the driver's side rearview mirror lost it's spring loaded tension that allows it to fold back under load. So now mine has no pressure and is loose. I took the mirror off, and it's simply a spring with a pop metal piece that holds the spring down and loaded.
I called the dealer and ABRA, both places told me I need a whole new housing, which is several hundred bucks.
Has anyone been able to repair these in-house? Is there a way to fix it? There is nothing broke, so this seems like it should not be so difficult.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. If anyone has done this and is for hire I'll travel if necessary!!
Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday.
What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures.
Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
