FUEL PUMP LEAKING

I noticed that the fuel pump on my 02' f250 diesel is leaking. What would cause this? Are they easy to replace?

I know that are somewhat expensive.

Are you sure it's not water, coming out of the water catch. Have you replace the fuel filter recently, how has the engine been running might be loaded up with water.

I don't think it's water, sure smells and ruins my driveway like diesel. Drained the water not too long ago.

Runs like normal.

Are you sure you didn't by mistake flip the lever to empty filter bowl ? Maybe is not compeltely open, or not properly closed.

Otherwise I would got directly to your favorite Ford dealer and have look at it ASAP, if the lift (transfer) pump is leaking, your injection pump is doing extra work and it might be not good.
