season's end

Recommended Posts

well i brought the furs in yesterday with our seasons total. 17 coyotes, 12 fox and 16 coons. we did fairly good this year, with them not respoding to the calls that well this year. the fur buyer said that fox adn coyotes were down in numbers this year. only 2 of them had mange which was good. and they had just the very begining of it, or so he said. this was for 4 of us. how did everyone else do for the year???

no sure on the exact numbers that our group got but i think we ended up with just under 20 coyotes, 4 fox, roughly a dozen coons, and some skunks. 1 coyote, 1 fox, 2 coons, and three skunks were off my traps, the rest were either .22-250 (big holes) .223, sks (really big holes), 9 mm, or 3.5" 00 buckshot. we got prime money for 4 coyotes, nearly all the rest had mange on their tails or up under the hind quarters; 1 fox i shot looked like it was on steroids-it was huge and no fat on it. and i had two personal highlights this winter that ive never done before a 400+ yard one shot kill on a sleeping coyote and i shot coyote with my 9 mm beretta 92f as he tried to double back on us as we were pushing a farm grove. that was crazy. pure luck i think. 22 yards with a 9mm full metal jacket and it still tore up the exit hole pretty good. i was surprised at that.
