Blue Lizard Sunscreen

Phred52

Question

Does anyone (besides Bill Dance) use this stuff? Is it any good? Can it be bought "over the counter"? Where? Or is it mail-order only? Any other suggestions for quality sunscreen? What do you use? Happy with it? Does it withstand LOTSA fishing and sweat? (Usually in that order).

I prefer to use Bullfrog sunscreen. I believe its spf 36 and it is a gel, so it goes on easy and lasts all day long. It is also waterproof and I haven't had any problems with sweating it off.

I use Banana Boat sunscreen, I use the 50spf because I'm light skinned and it works very well for me even when I'm sweating to beat the band! I was on the water for 8 hrs last Sat. and only put it on first thing in the morning. Down here last Sat it was at least 90 on the water when we came in, and the sun was out all day.

Thanks for the replys guys! I'll check into both of them. Problem around here is what our local stores decide to stock. "If we don't have it, you don't need it!" And me, less than 100 miles from the mega-mall! DON'T DRIVE, FISH!!!!!

Phred, you should be able to find both of those at K-Fart or Wally World. They usually have a rack in one of the isles near the "health and beauty" section loaded with a variety to pick from. More and more brands are going with waterproof versions. Bullfrog, I believe, is one of the first to go waterproof. I used it growing up and it worked well. If you have mosquito problems you may want to consider a combination sunscreen/insect repellant brand. I've got some, think it's from "Off!". But you have to re-apply it every 4-6 hrs. And it does seem to sweat off.

Never heard of Blue Lizard Sunscreen. I'd be willing to try it if they have samples somewhere. Does Bill Dance tell you where to get it?
