GPS problems....

setterguy

Question

Out on the lake this morning and my garmin map 12 started acting up on me. It was showing my location as being off the water when I am pretty sure that I was surrounded by it. It showed my waypoints as being off the water also so I could still navigate to them but it was a little frustrating nonetheless. I am no gps expert, so maybe there is a reset or something? Can they "go bad" or could I have dropped it? I have no idea, it is 4 years old so replacing it wouldn't break my heart but if there is a cheaper alternative I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

This same thing happened to mine. I talked to
Garmin about the problem and they told me the software crashed, just like a regular computer does. I needed to buy a download cable and hook it up to my pc. Then I downloaded the new Version of software from Garmin and installed it from my pc to my gps.
Has been working great ever since.

You also may want to check the map you are using and the GPS settings are the same. (Same reference)

Good luck
