115 Yamaha Problem????

hoggs222

Question

I've got a 115 Yamaha on a 2000 Lund 1700 Adventure. For the past few years the warning lights on the dash come on & the buzzer goes crazy when you hit 3000 rpm's & makes the engine choke out. This past weekend it wouldn't even click when you turn the key (we were also about 7 miles from the launch on Mille Lacs). Lately the dash guages (speedomoter, trim guage, etc.) have been going crazy also. Trim on the motor doesn't even work. Could this be a short somewhere? We've taken it in 2 times for the same problem & one person told us we didn't have oil in the boat (which we did) & the other said it was an oil sensor. Same problems now. Any suggestions out there?

have you checked the fuses on the motor? My father had the same problem last summer on his 115 yamaha and it turned out to be a blown fuse on the motor. The first sign of trouble was the loss of gauges and trim. Once he shut it down...it would not start or trim. He didnt have the buzzer problem... Relplaced fuse and all was good.
