what are you thoughts on Rapala Risto raps?

I'm looking at buying some online. They appear to be discontinued but you can still buy some. What are people's thoughts and opinions on these?

I have a few but never cought anything on them, then again I don't use them that much. I fish mainly for walleyes, that said, thay might work better on other fish also.

I haven't been real impressed with their action and ability to "stay down" when trolled over 1.5 mph. Even after a lot of tuning, nothing seemed to help. I realize Rapala makes a lot of nice products, but I wouldn't recommend this one for trolling. However, casting this lure may be a different story. I haven't experimented with that presentation and those lures at all.

I've been reading a lot of material that says the best crank baits for walleyes are long skinny stick baits like husky jerks or x-raps. Those are fairly beefy boddied. Is this true or is it just mumbo jumbo?

I agree with the other posts, that they do not troll very well. They do cast and retrieve very nicely. I agree not the best bait Rapala has ever made but I have caught a few smallies and N'thrns off of the Risto Rap

I would say thats a load of mumbo jumbo. Early season i've done alot better with DT's, Glass Shad's, and Fat Raps. When it comes to shallow eye's in the fall nothing beats a #12 Husky Jerk or X-raps. Just my 2 cents

BWS look up Rapalas on the Open water forum. There is alot of good info about Raps and other crankbaits that might be helpful to you.
