Bass / Walleye Rod and Reel Combo

Guest

Question

I'm in the market for a BASS / WALLEYE ROD and REEL combo. I can only spend bout 200.00 because my boat needs fixing too. What would be my best bet as to Rod and Reel combinations? I'd prefer baitcaster rods/reels combinations.
suggestions please!!

Thanks in advance,

The Pfluger Trion is a great low profile bait casting reel for about $90-$100. That leaves you in the $100 range for a decent quality medium action rod. I think you can pick up a Top of the line Gander Mountain Guide Series in the $70 range.

It's hard to beat the ambassader bait casting reels. I have several and have never been disappointed. They usually run from $55 - 80. I've never felt the need to spend more than $50 on a rod. The Guide Series rods are good. Bass Pro also offers some very nice rods carrying their name for the money.

If you look for a good sale you should really be able to pick up a nice bait casting combo and a spinning combo(I like shimano spinning reels) for about $200.

I would think for $200 you could get yourself a real nice combo. My money would go toward a Shimano Curado reel and a St. Croix Premier series rod. For walleye/bass I think I would go with a medium/heavy 6'6" rod. I have a Curado SF reel and I can cast a 1/8 ounce bait a long ways. I am really impressed by this reel. I also have a Quantum Accucast 400AC and I really like that reel too. It has a flipping switch which is nice to have for trolling cranks for walleyes and for flipping jigs for both bass and walleyes. I also have St.Croix's in the Premier, Avid, and Legend series. They are all my favorite rods. It just comes down to what you can spend. I have found that an expensive rod makes more of a difference than an expensive reel.
