JohnMickish
While watching practice for the 500 today the anouncers just said that Miller beer challenged Bud that whoever finished higher in the standings at the end of the year the loser would have to run one race in 2007 in the winners colors.Bud has not responded. Now that's putting your money where your mouth is!
eyepatrol
That's funny, and if I were Bud, I'd take that bet.
JohnMickish
I hope they do. They would have lost last year, and Busch has finished ahead of Jr. the last two. I feel that Bud has the most to lose if they should not win the deal as Jr. is the bigger market.
eyepatrol
Well, whatever would happen, it doesn't much matter to me when it comes to the two sponsors. I don't like to drink either of them beers. blahk!
Sifty
I would think with all the things that Jr. is promising for this year that Bud would get behind him and take the challange. If for nothing but some great commercails a the end of the year. It could be named Busch grabs a Miller while running after a Bud. It would need to take place in Texas. JohnMickish
I jsut read on Jayski that Bud has until the start of the 500 but here is the response.Anheuser-Busch's response came quickly: "I sincerely doubt we're considering it," said Brian Eaton of Busch's Public Affairs office.Dosen't sound to me like they have that much confidence in the team they are sponsoring. LMITOUT
Sounds to me like they don't want to play childish games that Miller dreams up and Miller isn't really focused on the big picture.....
JohnMickish
Whats a bigger picture than finishing higher in the points?
LMITOUT
Focusing on winning the championship and not worrying about silly side bets. Kudos to A-B for not stooping to Miller's desperate reach for publicity now that their best driver has retired.
JohnMickish
I think the A-B people are scared. Since this idea was launched at board room level not racetrack level I don't see how it would effect anyone involved with the race teams. Do you really think that these guys care who's name is on the hood or what color the car is? As long as the bills get paid I'm sure there are very few people that would care. It's just a nice friendly little gesture between competing companies. It was just a change of color for one race, not a decal change.Would you lose concentration at your job if your company had a bet with their competitor and the loser had to change the company color for one day? I didn't think so.

I'm sure they will as that's their style of advertising.....not classy and sophisticated like A-B. But I guess that comes with being #1...something Miller will never be. As I said before, I'm happy to see that A-B didn't stoop to Miller's level.
