Replacing switch on a Strikemaster Mag2000

The on/off switch on my auger broke off and I would have to special order a replacement. I was wondering if I could just replace the orginal with a toggle switch with two contacts run the existing wire to one contact and a ground wire to the other contact. Anyone have any experience with this type of repair? Am I correct in assuming that the only purpose of the switch is to ground out the ignition?

That is all it does. You can go to your local parts store and get a switch. I would suggest a nice weather proof one and it should't go more than 5 bucks.
