Bow-Turks anyone?

How many of you will be going for Bow-Turkeys this year? I bagged my first last year and witnessed a buddy just two days later get his first. It was a stone-cold blast! We are doing it again! Share your bow-turk stories or your bow-turk plans here! I, for one, am gettin' fired up!!

I missed last year with my bow ...but I picked up the scatter gun and nailed him He was just too nice to pass on. Not sure if I'll try it this year, hunting a new area and gonna be more of a guide than a hunter - we got a group of 5, couple rookies. Good luck to you!

Last time I hunted turkey was 2 years ago.Was getting bored with killing them with my 12 gauge and wanted a new challenge.

Went out and on the second morning.thumped a 24# tom with a 9 inch beard and 1.75 spurs.Talk about lucky.

He came within 10 yards of my double blind and never knew what was coming,he was to busy getting the attention of my decoys.

Heck ya looking forward to that, My six year old is ready he askes every day when we can head out. Last year when I missed mine he said he was going to get the next one! getting geared up for it this year. Does anyone have any suggestions in regards to broadheads?? I know about the gullitines and there is the Steel Force Talons? Any others out there? Thanks

I like an expandable in order to get a little more shock and try and keep the arrow in the bird. I have Rocket's Buckblaster, used without the fixed blades it's a 125 gr. 2.75" cut expandable and bagged by bird with a Rocket Hammerhead 2" cut exp. My buddy used Nap's Gobbler Getter in 100 gr. and in both cases the head performed well and stayed in the birds dispatching them quickly. Shot placement is key, shoot the birds in the wing joints or in the back to break the spine, or in the thighs to disable their legs (this is where I hit my bird and he dropped like a rock and never got up again). They need legs to fly. If you can nail them in the head, which I hope to attempt this spring, they will drop like a rock. With this shot the bird is either dead or a clean miss.

I'd think about the guillotine. A friend took a good bird on my land last spring with that broadhead, and it's the real deal. Go to their HSOforum and check out the videos. If/when I decide to get after them with a bow, it's what I'll be using.

The "gee-to-teen" is a deadly head, without a doubt. I've watched the vids, heard the talk and all, but am a little shy about dropping the ching on the heads. I mean, $34 for a single head with extra blades (latest price at G.Mtn.)? On the other hand, bagging a turkey with a head shot and watching the "headless turkey of booger-wood" running away (not far obviously) will probably make me hop up on yon stump ala Robin Hood and declare my archery supremacy for all the woods to hear! (ya, dem turks make a guy a little nuts, don'cha know!)

Looking forward to discussificating the wonders of the thunder chicken with all ya'll here on FishMN again this year. Once again, I am sure I'll be just a foamin' at the mouth by the time I get to go to Nebraska. Can't fargin wait!! Best of luck to all!
