Best bait

I have been fishing square lake alot, have seen alot of fish. but only i have only got about 1 in 10 to bite. i have used ura larva,waxie and minnows. any suggestions? Many just cruise right by.

I just mentioned this in the Courthouse thread - my favorite bait the last few years has been a Ratso. I like the white but it's worth experimenting with the various colors. I normally don't even tip it with anything. It's all about the great tail action. I jig it fairly aggressively to attract them & then adjust after they move in & I see how they respond to it. Snap it then just quiver the tail. Keep it dancin' & when a trout moves in just hold it steady with a slight quiver. Normally they circle it a couple times quickly & then slam it. There's a bunch of good plastic baits but that's my favorite.

What is the best way to see the trout in your hole? I seem to never be able to see them because of the glare.

I have had most of my luck on Square with Salmon eggs, on a tiny red hook. After I'm set up I stay quiet and leave it be. Seems they prefer no movement on the egg, and jigging will usually send them swimmin off. Something to try.

have you been using spawn sacks for your eggs? i've got some of the power bait eggs and they didn't want it with just a single egg on the hook
