How to Touch Up Paint on Aluminium Boat?

TSCTSC

Question

I am in the process of touching up the paint on my boat. I have already touched up the spots with paint. It does not look too bad, but how do I get the final smooth finish? Do I sand it down with 2000 grit sandpaper, or polish it down with an orbital polisher with rubbing compound?

Thanks

You are correct with the 2000 grit sandpaper. Rubbing compound, or a little clear gloss might do the trick also. It should come out pretty close. I dont know how well those color match products work. I know its hard to compensate for fade more than anything.. but anything looks better than a big gash in the paint.
