I've been thumbing through a couple of saltwater catalogs and am wondering if anyone out there uses any on the lures designed for saltwater for Esox Masquinongy? Some of the big poppers and gliders look pretty cool.

A couple summers back my brother was using a saltwater crankbait up in Canada fishing for big notherns. He was outfishing me really bad until he thru it onto a rock and broke the bill off of it. He had what I still beleive was a 48"+ fish to within 30' of the boat when it came up and thru the lure. Biggest northern I've ever seen in the water. My personal best is 45", and I still can't get the one he lost out of my mind.

He picked that lure up at the Musky Expo. The bill had been ground down so that it didn't run nearly as deep as designed. And as already mentioned above, them lures ain't cheap. But the one he had that year would seem to indicate that they do catch 'freshwater' fish.

That is a good question!!! Im going to Hawaii in a couple of days and I was planning on buying a few. I think most of those lures are a little sronger then the normal muskie lures so thats a good thing. But who knows, ill find out when i use them!!!!
