Extension pole spring button -- where to buy?

aanderud

Question

My Eskimo ice house has poles that slide out like most houses. One of my spring button lock thingies (quite a technical term there) is missing.

Here is a pool cleaning attachment spring lock -- it's essentially the same thing I need except it is plastic instead of metal and there's buttons on both sides of it. Imagine this with 1 button instead of 2, pinched into the inner pole of a telescopic tent setup, if you want to know what I'm talking about.

I went to the hardware store and they had nothing to replace my missing metal spring. I finally talked to 1 dude there who said it looked like the one on his "snow rake". We went to the snow rake section, and sure enough there's one on there. It costs like 30 bucks though. I'm wondering if anyone here knows how I could get ahold of something like this locally (target, walmart, hardware store, etc) so that I don't have to go through the hassle of getting ahold of Eskimo parts dept, paying them in some random fashion (probably via mail) and having them mail me one of these spring things back. I'm sure they can help me, and that'll be my next step, but if anyone knows of somewhere in the MSP area that I can just drive to and get one, that would be easiest and fastest.

Thanks.

They are called snap buttons and you would want the single-ended variety. Reid Supply Company has them. You can go to their site and search for "snap button" and you will see them. Of course, this would be an online order so if you're going to that trouble you might as well just get one from Eskimo or whatever that company is called. I don't know if a hardware store would have them or not, but at least you know what to call them now.
