colonel42
I was just wondering if anyone out there is familar with this lake. It has been years since I have been there. Located next to White Otter Lake. The last time I was there we had to make two portages one from Clear water west. I have heard that you can drive right to Nora. My Father is getting up in age and would love to get him back up there. Thanks for any info.

White Otter Guy
I have fished the lake several times (June) & had decent luck. We fish White Otter the majority of the time. That lake is fantastic. Yes, you have to portage into White Otter & go to the north end (McQuat bay) then portage into Nora. There is some good walleye & lake trout fishing Nora. I am not sure about a road going into Nora. If there is it is just a tote road & the tote roads are like a maze in that area.
colonel42
Just off hand I'm guessing it has been 15 to 20 years since I have been there. We used to go up the week after opening in MN. I remember to roads you had to travel we very rough with alot of curves. We used to set off from Clear water West and it was quite the ride across to White Otter. Then again you have three guys in a 15' grummen sportboat with a 15HP Johnson and all the gear and food for a week. Danger Wil Robinson. The portage from White Otter to Nora was just around the corner from the castle. I did see the castle on some outdoor show that they have done alot of work on it refinished some of it. The days fishing were always good. Caught my first laker there that weighed in at 22lbs. Also remember hooking into about a 25+lb nothern that thought I was trolling with a 3lb walleye. That is a story I'll never forget. When we fished walleyes we used to go to the very north end of the lake, which was a long boat ride from portage bay. I remember that part of the lake was all burnt from a forest fire they had in the spring of '76 I believe. Don't ever remember catching any trophy eyes but the numbers were like catching sunnys. Drop your line in and if you didn't have a bite by the time you hit the bottom you needed new bait. Hard to believe it was that long ago and the memories are so clear. I know my dad would just love to get back up there and hammer the eyes.
Xplorer
Try looking for Berglund Outposts, they have a outpost cabin on the lake along with several more in the area.I believe that you come in on the road from Ignace. A friend was up a couple winters ago and did decent on lakers and eye's, I'm pretty sure they stayed in the Nora lake cabin.
