Foam Walkers

I've gotten them at Cabela's. Foam Walker's are the very best bottom fishing rig I have ever used. The only drawback I've found with them is that you will often lose the sinker when you are landing a fish and they are thrashing wildly. Otherwise, I think they are the best. I have yet to get stuck in rocks or snags when I've used them. They are somewhat pricey. In this case the old adage comes into play. "Something is expensive only when it doesn't do the job for which it's intended!" 1DIRTBALL wink.gif

Hey Dirtball, (sorry nothing personal) grin.gif I had the same trouble with fish throwing the weight until I drilled a small hole under the pre-made notch and added a split ring that attaches to the weight. I don't loose the weight anymore. To answer the original question, the bobbershop here in Mankato has them. If they've put them away for the winter I'm sure they'd get them back out to sell one to you.

Make sure that the bottom red cap isn't bent outward (or loose)where it hooks to the weight. I always cut the top of the foam walker red cap so I can instantly snap (the Foam Walker) on and off the line. Sometimes a fish will shake the whole thing off your line. Not very often. If that happens don't cut the top cap where it snaps on and off your line. That way you'll never lose the whole thing. I personally like the top cut to take it off the line. Works better for storage that way. The Foam Walker is a very good unit for Stop and Go retrieves (because it doesn't tip over) and for slow trolling. Use it slow just like a Lindy Rig. The Foam Walker actually wobbles side to side in the water and I have actually netted 4 walleyes that bit onto just the Foam Walker and not the leech that was 3' behind the rig! Another Tip is to use a small piece of Ice Buster Foam (approx 1/8 to 1/4" length) and push right onto your plain hook. Now you have a floating rig that really works great behind the Foam Walker. Both are off the ground and in the strike zone. Alot of times I stop my rig with a leech on it and wait a few seconds to let the Leech work against the foam and it will entice a strike. Remember that everything will snag eventually but the Foam Walker will snag less with way more options on how to rig it. Alot of the Bait shops wont have them but it's always good to ask. If you can't find them look on this site or go to my HSOforum at www.todaystackle.com and you'll get your product.

Thanks, Bruce Mosher
