Ifinder H20 and lowrance fishing hot spots elite problem

WallyGator12000

Question

Hey guys, I got the lowrance ifinder H20 for Christmas, and got the lowrance fishing hot spots elite chip with it. The other day I went out on White Bear to find a spot to fish. Well the story goes that according to the GPS I was in 15 feet of water on a sand bar, but I was actually in 34 feet on my LX-3, when I moved around 10-20 feet closer to shore and then showed 10 feet of depth on my GPS, I was still in 30+ feet of water. Is this a case of my chip being worthless? Or are these units not that exact, really only giving you a general idea of where you are fishing? Has anyone had this experience with this chip? Thanks for the help!

WallyGator 12000, welcome to the wacky world of mapping chips. I would STRONGLY suggest that you invest in Lakemaster's chip for Minnesota. The map for White Bear Lake has been surveyed by them in one foot increments. Is it "perfect"? Ask around.

As far as fishing maps go period, I'm not a big fan at all of the Hot Spots maps. Now the Lakemaster maps are a different story altogether and the Lakemaster ProMaps (1' contours) are absolutely phenomenal.

Do yourself a favor like "dockehr" mentioned and pick up Lakemaster's MN chip for that GPS. You will be a happy man.
