Aqua-Vu scout XL

JIGGIN'

Recommended Posts

Just made the big purchase on this unit and took it out to Mille Lacs yesterday to check it out. I must say I was not really all that impressed! Even somewhat disappointed I guess. Does anyone here have advice on how to best use this thing. The viewing I felt was fuzzy and not really all that clear most of the time. I played around with all the adjustments and tried to get it to come in more clear, but to no avail. I also found that you had to also be in a dark fishhouse in order to see anything. I like the big screen and how it is packaged, but the clarity just doesn't seem that great. What am I doing wrong or was I mistaken when I bought it? The camera seems to work great when it isn't underwater! HELP!

Jiggin' did you check to make sure your battery is fully charged? Try that, or also try downviewing with the camera as that will give you a different perspective to see if it's the water, or the camera. If all else fails, just exchange it at the store you got it. As soon as you get it, you'll love it as the XL is a great unit. I am using an SRT and really love the architecture of the units.

I have the same unit and used ut for the first time this weekend on a lake with similar clarity to Mille Lacs. At first I thought, "Boy, with all this fuzziness and blur, how will I see any fish?". Then it started to get lighter out and the white tips started showing up like glowing beacons from heaven. From as far off as 15 feet I could see the walleye cruising the weedline looking for my rattle spoon. When they came in for a sniff before hitting they were as clear as day and I could make out every detail on them. Just like that I forgot all about the semi-static on the screen. When a musky cam in for a look at the perch cam I just about lost it!! Can't wait to get it up to Mille Lacs next weekend. If you are unhappy with it even when you are seeing fish I suggest getting it looked at or replaced. My only disappointment was that I did not wait to get the 4 camera version that is now the same price at some places. Having to move the cable each time to get to stay on my jig was kind of tiresome, but I will be making a stand for it to allow it to sit on the bottom next time.
