All I have to say is good luck fighting the crowd. In years past when I would fish there on opener, it was tough to get a bite with a hundred other guys out there fishing and drilling holes all the time. Panfish tackle should work well there as well as jigging spoons.

Don't be discouraged by the other post. There will be crowds but as long as you don't mind them, they will not mind you either. There are plenty of stocked trout for the taking. Take a kid or several, because the fishing will be a blast for them.

The bait of choice is wax-worm on small spoon (castmaster in orange and silver). If you hit it before sunlight, get a glow spoon.

I'm wondering if Courthouse pond is even going to be safe to walk on for opener. I fished last year and the ice was substantially thinner on Courthouse than on Mitchell Lake in Eden Prairie. The ice on Mitchell lake is now borderline safe in my opinion, and I would certainly not walk on it after a few days of the current forecast. I'm guessing the pond has 4 to 5" tops right now.

Almosthere, is right on. Don't be afraid to try your perch spoons with two or three waxies. Also, keep it moving.

Page 27 of the Regulations indicates opener to begin 1 hour

before sunrise. Only 3 fish over 16"

DON'T FORGET YOUR TROUT STAMP.
